#21 – BITE THE BULLET!

Since I’ve been trying to get a post written for a week now I decided to just recap “Bojo” style.

  • Completed the Whole30 Program. It was challenging and a learning experience, and it was FABULOUS! I lost 19lbs but gained so much more.
  • Koegel’s On The Road came thru Idaho with perfect timing and so I was able to get a taste of home and it was delicious.
All Michigan products – Koegel’s meat, Bettermade chips and Faygo pop. The only thing missing was the Superman ice cream for dessert!
  • My son, his fiance’ and I all visited our local aquarium for the first time and that was pretty cool.
    I loved this guy.
    And this one.
He reminded me of The Incredible Mr. Limpet.
Raise your hand if you’re old like me and have seen this movie. I absolutely LOVE it!
  • I found Nemo in case anyone was looking for him.
  • And my son found these guys and they loved him.
Every time one of them swam up to him all I could think of was Steve Irwin!
  • I’ve made a full recovery from Memorial Weekend and all is right with my world once again.
  • I bought some more fabric. This may have helped in my recovery.
  • Working on baby stuff for my new grandbaby.
  • Helping my future daughter-in-law with her newly founded all things pamper/heal yourself small business.
  • Totally binged on Rizzoli & Isles. Loved that show.
  • The grind – Housework, errands, appts.
    You know the drill.
Due to the rain, I’ll be inside crocheting, sewing, crafting and Netflixing something British. What’s happening with all of you??
What are you crafting, sewing, reading, watching???
OR, are you having my dream weekend?
Nowhere to go. Nothing to do.
If that’s your weekend I am super jealous!Mimi’s quote for the day –

MOVE THAT MOUNTAIN MONDAY!

Happy Monday folks!
I hope you all enjoyed a fabulous fall weekend.
I planned to do nothing all weekend and that is exactly what I did and let me just tell you.
Purposely doing nothing is flippin’ hard!
My purposeful nothingness included a Netflix binge on ‘The Killing’ and eating way too much crappy food.
By Sunday I felt like a lump of nothingness!
leaves barI chose not to do anything this past weekend because –
a.) I have just gotten over some “bug” and
b.) Because it’s that time of year for me. From now until the New Year it will be balls to the wall all things holidays.
It’s my favorite time of year and also my busiest.
leaves barThe downside to choosing not to do anything all weekend is now it’s Monday and I have zero motivation and I do so need some motivation!
In short. I’ve got mountains to move!
I have 3 quilts to put together, 3 stockings to make and 5 scarves to finish up all before the end of Oct.. Seems like a long time but honestly when you add all of the day to day living stuff that needs to be done on top of these projects, it’s really not that much time at all!
leaves barIt’s time for me to turn up some music and get my sewing machine going!
My top tune to kick off my own personal
“Move That Mountain Monday?”
The song that always gets me moving…
‘Walkin’ On Sunshine’ by Katrina and The Waves!

leaves barHow’s your motivation today?
What mountains do you have to move?
How do you motivate yourself to move your mountains???
Tell me all about it in the comments below!

Here’s to a productive week ahead!

IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

My day yesterday.
Gmah2 calls me the other night. She desperately needs my help with a surprise wedding shower.
Gmah2 and I have been friends for over 20 years. Of course, I’ll help.
What do I need to do?
Hem some table cloths. – Check
Bring some ribbon. – Check
Bring some lace. – Check
You’ll probably need to bring your sewing machine “just in case.” – Check
Glue sticks and a glue gun? – Check
Gmah2 tells me she’ll pick me up in the morning, which she does. It isn’t until we’re driving past her neighborhood that I ask where the hell we’re going. “Oh,” she says. “We’re doing everything at Linda’s place.”
Perfect. I’ve met Linda once. I don’t know where Linda lives. Scratch that. I DO NOW!
Three words – This fucking heat!
Add to that, this fucking heat in the middle of nowhere fucking Idaho. Sitting in an old farmhouse with one teenie, tiny window unit AC.
Add to that, nearly 20 people mulling about and all of the body heat to go with ’em.
Add to that, walking back and forth to a hot ass, mofo, barn in the middle of nowhere fucking Idaho.
Did I happen to mention that I had on a dress and flip flops??

I thought I was going to Gmah2’s house. A beautiful house in the beautiful suburbs with AC that runs so cold you could hang meat. But no. I’m in the middle of nowhere fucking Idaho trying to sew, hot glue and decorate around 20 other sweaty fucking people. 20 other sweaty people that were supposed to be helping and ended up doing nothing but drinking soda and eating chips while Gmah2 and I did all of the work, in an old farmhouse with a teenie, tiny window unit AC that, FYI, I huff n’ puff out more air when I’m wiggling and wriggling into my sports bra fresh out of the shower than that thing kicked out on high!
Besides my hair and my temper, ya’ wanna’ know what doesn’t hold up in this heat? ANY decorations made using a hot glue gun!
In fact, I said, “I don’t think this is going to work guys. It’s too hot.”
“Oh no!” They said. “They’ll be fine, we’ll put them in front of the fans.”
“Okay, first of all, before these glued up, laced up ribboned up fucking wreaths go in front of the fans, my fat ass is sitting in front of one.
And second, no. No, they won’t be fine, ” I said. “No, they fucking won’t.”
SURPRISE! Me melting at a dining room table, sewing away with burnt fucking fingertips from the million and one itty bitty flowers and seashells I’d been gluing to wreaths all day and one by one I hear shit falling off of the wreaths and onto the floor.
Then I hear someone say, and I don’t know who said it because trust me I would’ve got the glue gun and glued their mouth shut..
“Maybe if we put them in the freezer.”
I.Was.Done.
At some point some old guy, I guess he lived there. I don’t know. He yells out, “I’m firin’ up the grill! Who wants some hot dogs and burgers?” Seriously? It’s a million degrees outside. And everybody starts gathering up chairs and tables and then out of nowhere, enough food to feed a small country starts streaming out the door. I just want to die. I want a pool, a lake, a beach, my tub, my shower. SOMETHING!

I find Gmah2 and say, “Hey, looks like things are winding down. Uh, when are we heading out?”
– I didn’t take my vehicle. I should’ve taken my vehicle. I ALWAYS take my vehicle. Why???? Because of situations Just.Like.This. –
Gmah2 says to me, “Well, don’t you want to eat first? They made all this food.”
“No, Gmah2. I don’t want to eat. I want to jump in the nearest fucking lake. I want to pour a bucket of water over my head. I want to strip down naked and run thru the irrigation sprinklers. So no. No. I don’t want a fucking hot dog and warm potato salad and melted jello. I want to go home.” I said this as sweetly as I could to my dear, old friend. I even smiled. Sort of. It could’ve been a snarl.

My dear, old friend who knows me so well promptly turned around and gave a shout out, “Okay. Well, we gotta’ go. See you on Saturday.”
On the way home, Gmah2 apologized for not telling me ahead of time where we’d be, how hot the house would be, how many people would be mulling about in that old, hot house, and most of all for the shitty air conditioning. Had I known, I would’ve prepared differently. I certainly wouldn’t have worn a dress and flip flops! And, I probably would’ve said no.
On the way home Gmah2 also bought me a giant ice cream cone.
We’re still friends. Ice cream on a million degree day makes everything better.
Once I finally made it home I nearly dove into my shower and stayed under it until I was a shriveled prune. I got out, grabbed a huge glass of iced tea and this book. It was one of my “stuff a bag” library book sale books.
According to ‘Good Reads’ I started this book back in April. Makes sense. I’ve been busy. I’ve never read this author before but I do like her. She’ll be getting a 5 star rating.
And that, my friends, was my day yesterday. A great prelude into an early morning dr. appt. this morning.
What’s on tap for today? More iced tea. More reading and going, doing, ab-so-lute-ly NOTHING.

Stay cool my friends. Unless you’re in the middle of your winter right now. Then I wish I could send you some of this heat to warm you up!
The best part of my day yesterday besides spending time with Gmah2 was that not one word of politics was spoken and that was heavenly.

HEY, IT’S TUESDAY!

I was looking for a Tuesday bloghop linky thing to join and yeah, there aren’t any. Let me specify. There aren’t any for me. All of them have that lit’l clause in their list of rules “must be FAMILY FRIENDLY.”
Well, first of all, as all of you know, Mimi is not a rule follower. The only rules I have ever followed in my entire life were my dad’s.
Side Note: Following the law is exempt here because following the law is not necessarily following “the rules.” Following the law is simply complying with the authorities that govern my state and my country. Thereby, I am law abiding, not rule following.
#piecesofme #reallifeshit – I’ve never been arrested and I’ve only gotten one ticket. Speeding (surprise!)
So yeah, no Tuesday bloghop/linkup for me. Instead I’ll share some projects I’m working on.
pghostDoing something fun with these lit’l ghost faces.

And these skulls.

And these trees.
Pics of finished projects to follow.
I made this Pokemon kiddie tote. No pattern. Just kinda’ winged it but it turned out super cute and I already have orders. Go me!My soon-to-be, daughter-in-law, aka, “Puzzle Girl” is making jewelry. She does a fantastic job. She works with puzzle pieces a lot because she is a champion of Autism Awareness and works with disabled adults. We’re going to try and swing a couple of craft show/festivals together this fall.Today I’ll be working with this fabric.
In other news – It’s really not news but unless you live in a cave. You may have noticed, it’s fucking hot out!
FYI, this is one of the many reasons I can’t do bloghops with rules. When the it’s fucking hot outside, I say it’s fucking hot outside.
I suppose I could reword it to something like, golly gee, it sure is warm out there but golly gee, it sure is warm out there doesn’t cut it when you step outside and melt into the concrete because why? It’s fucking hot out!

Stay cool my friends!

FESTIVAL OF WORDS #5 – Write Tribe – Day 1

This post is brought to you by ‘The Write Tribe Festival Of Words #5.’
Click on the photo to join in!
There’s no theme to this challenge so I’m keeping it light n’ easy. I’ve been gone a few weeks and while the world goes to hell in a handbasket around me. – Around us. –
I seek a glimmer of heaven at my sewing machine, in my books, my writing, and anything and everything that puts a smile on my face.
Here’s a bit of my heaven..
Sewing for my grand-Princess –

Sewing for the “Original Princess.”

Current Read –
A carefree story line. Nothing dark n’ negative. A wonderful escape.

Current Hulu addiction (sorry Netflix) –
I’m on season #9 – No spoilers please.

I’m constantly journaling…

And taking time to stop and smell the roses.
Literally.

The roses are all gone now but I can hardly wait until next year’s blooms.
Such a wonderful park to have nearby.
In other news:
Our weather has taken a one day turn to the dark side. Rain, cold, gray, dreary.
I’m not a fan.
I’m still jumping through some personal hoops.
Key words – “still jumping.” – As long as I’m moving forward. I’m good.
I’m still sewing away at my machine and soon I’ll have some fall craft show/festival wares to reveal.
I’m also still a busy lit’l bee with my crocheting so there will be a few reveals there as well.

I hope wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, you find a glimmer of heaven.
Look for it, seek it out and share it.
More heaven. Less hell.

MIDNIGHT MOCHA #002

Yep. It’s midnight and I’m up for the day. Seriously. Not even kidding.
I got too comfortable too early in the evening. – Damn you ‘Grissom!’ –
And so here I am. WIDE awake, enjoying my midnight mocha and throwing out random shit on my blog.Do any of you have the Flipboard app on your phones? I’m absolutely addicted. I like having the news and topics that interest me right at my fingertips with hardly any ads and crap in between. I learn something every time I “flip” through it.
**FLIPBOARD NUGGETS**
Did you know that Kenya has a population of 45 million and only 23% of that population has access to electricity? How crazy is that?? I only know this because I was reading the story about a monkey in Kenya falling onto a transformer and causing a blackout for the entire country!
You can read about it here.

New research. A lit’l bit scary.. Brain to brain communication. I won’t give the long drawn out explanation. You can read that here but seriously. Two scientists in two different rooms sitting in front of video games. One of the scientist’s “thinking” the other scientist into to playing the game. Like getting him to move his fingers around the controller. No joke. Read the article.

People with sleep disorders tend to have impaired memory functions.
Wait, what?In other news. I’ll be up sewing tonight. Shocking, I know. I have a special order stuffed animal and my daughter asked for some pants and skirts. The stuffed animal should take no time at all and I’m hoping to knock out 3 pairs of pants for my daughter and a couple of dresses for my grand-Princess while I’m at. After that, I’ll be continuing on with stocking my inventory for the fall sales.

I have absolutely no errands to run tomorrow/today, so I expect plenty of productivity.Speaking of productivity. I was slated to be finished with my crochet/fleece doggie blanket on the 7th. That didn’t happen. Too many, “I’ll be there, I might be there, I’m on my way, oh sorry” moments. So irritating.I need to update my bujo to reflect my delays and new completion dates. We’ve still got a heat wave going on and it’s going to be even hotter today than it was yesterday. Back east the temps dropped and it was cool enough to wear a hoodie.
So weird.
To all of my friends down in “God’s waiting room,” a.k.a., Florida. Batten down the hatches, move to higher ground and be safe! Can’t believe it’s hurricane season already. It’s fire season for us. We’ve had a lot of lightning and rolling thunder with no rain. That’s never a good thing.Okay. I’m off to sew. I may or may not be back later today with some finished stuff. We’ll see how wide awake I am in a few hours.
What’s on tap for your day? Do any of you have trouble sleeping or short sleep patterns? My lit’l sis requires 8 hours of sleep. Do any of you? Do you ever get it?
Sleep has never been my thing so I’m really interested in how so many people can lie horizontally for 6-8 hours a night doing absolutely nothing… To me, it’s mind boggling.

NOTHING WORDLESS ABOUT THIS WEDNESDAY

Seriously folks I’ve been trying to post since Monday. I’ve had several posts started and then BOOM, life. Some happy life, some not so happy. Some really shitty, frustrating, my hands are tied, nothing I can do, life. The latter life being the most crushing because you know a bullet would just make things so much easier, and happier.
Yeah, that kind of life…
And then, out of the blue, THIS LIFE!A happy, “just because,” box of “mitten luv” found on my front porch. A HUGE mitten mug and a beautiful card from my friend the ‘Beastly Bear‘ and his wife ‘Mama Bear.’ I boo hoo’d a lit’l bit. I’m not gonna’ lie. I needed this slice of life sooooo badly and I couldn’t wait to use it this morning and start my day out with a cup o’ luv! I have to say though, reading all of those familiar cities and Great Lakes, and seeing the mitten shape and the U.P. (upper peninsula) and Canada.. Got me a lit’l homesick. Okay, A LOT homesick.. (Sigh)
Again, my heartfelt thanks to ‘Beastly Bear‘ and ‘Mama Bear’ for this wonderful slice of “happy life” and “mitten luv.” You have no idea how much I needed this…
In other news. I know I need to get my “Reflections” post done for the ‘Blogging from A to Z Challenge.’ I also know that I have until the 13th to get that done so guess when I’ll be posting it? Yeah, probably on the 13th. Maybe. Who knows. Could be tomorrow. I haven’t really given it much thought just off the cuff observances.. So, that’s coming. My friend CiCi has been visiting off and on for the past couple of weeks while she gets some medical procedures done. Spending the night, sometimes, several nights. Lots of laughter but not so much accomplished by way of crafting. I did start a table topper for CiCi while she was here the first time. Truly only a 3 hour project tops and here it sits not finished because, well, laughter. I’ll have it finished by the time CiCi comes back on Monday.I have a couple of other projects underway. Building up my inventory.. I’ll post those pics as I go along. I’m also trying my hand at a few new crafts, AND, working on shedding a few pounds before I enter myself as a flippin’ float into the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in the fall!
Down 13lbs. so far! Go me!
The rest of my day is going to consist of sewing and catching up on blogs. That’s pretty much it. Who knows, I may even get that “Reflection” post knocked out.
We’ll see.I hope you’re all having a great Wednesday and that all of your slices of life are happy ones.
